WAEC cancels WASSCE English Paper

08/05/2009 06:39

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has canceled the English paper 1 of the ongoing West Africa Senior Secondary Exams.

Agnes Tei Cudjoe, Head of Public Relations at WAEC told Joy News’ Evans Mensah the decision has been taken because the paper was “compromised.” Asked how the paper was compromised, Mrs. Cudjoe said “it is a mystery we are still trying to unravel.”

According to her, quite a number of students had access to the paper even before it was written. The paper will be re-taken on May 27, 2009 at all examination centers, a day before the entire examination will come to an end.

Mrs. Cudjoe said investigation has already begun into the leakage of the examination papers and the findings and punitive measures will soon be made public.
