Summer Games
As spring gives way for the much awaited summer, the atmosphere is thrown into a myriad of sporting activities. The countless training sessions of cricket, badminton, table tennis, basketball and the ever popular Game of football has plunged the academic atmosphere into an uncontrollable state of frenzy.
Many are eager to know, who this year, will dominate the game of cricket. Will it be the Pakistanis, Malaysians or the Indians? Will the Stars of Ghana (Lughansk) bounce back to winning ways and re-establish their superiority over the beautiful game of football; or will they succumb to the dominance to the reorganized and fortified Evergreen Stars? Can the view portraying the All Stars of Eastern Africa as the surprise package of this season be underestimated?
These and many other questions in the sporting arena beg for answers.
In my quest to seek answers to some of these questions, I spoke to the Coach of the Stars of Ghana, Dr. F. K. Kyei. He admitted that his team has seen the exodus of some of its top stars who played a major role in last season’s league, while some are nursing minor injuries. He, however, assured that his outfit has begun a massive recruitment activity to unearth new players from the pool of talents who arrived at L.S.M.U a couple of months ago. "We have some pretty good new players in the squad this season, and I believe my team is a team to watch", he told pounsterllin news. "We have also signed two new proffessional players from Cammeroon to boost the midfield and attack", Dr. Kyei re-iterated.
He admitted, however, that this years football games will be much tougher and entertaining than last year’s, and sited the Evergreen Stars as the strongest opposition to his title aspirations.
As we wait in anticipation, we believe that come what may, the good old spring will soon clear the way for the beautiful, dry and bright summer to arrive with its much awaited answers.
