GHASAU marks 1st Awards & Handing-over ceremony.

Ghanaian Students Association, Ukraine(Lugansk) successfully held its 1st Awards and Handing-over ceremony on the 13th of March, 2008 on the campus of the L.S.M.U. The ocassion which was also graced with a variety of cultural performances, ended with all of its attendants well entertained and educated about the rich cultural diversity of the Ghana. Mr. Larry Oghogo and Miss Emmanuella Amoako were M.Cs of the programme.

The programme begun with the handing-over of offices of the old executives to the newly elected ones. All the old executives picked up certificates for their contributions to the developments and achievements of the association. The newly elected executives of the association were then sworn into office to end the first part of the programme.

Below is a list of the new executives of the Ghanaian Medical Students Association,Lugansk.

  • Public Relations Officer: Mr. Jerry J. Asiedu

Some of the categories of awards precented and their corresponding recipients include:

  • Best Defender of the soccer team(2007/08): Ebenezer O. Mensah
  • Best Midfielder of the soccer team(2007/08): Denis Agala
  • Best Striker of the Soccer team(2007/2008): Martin D. Mokake
  • Most Disciplined member of the soccer team: Martins D. Mokake
  • Mr Ghana (Lughansk):                                 Aaron.

 

  • Most Sociable Ghanaian: Mr. Petit A. Kpe
  • Most Helpful Ghanaian: Mr. Jerry J. Asiedu & Mr. Nathaniel Okaitey
  • Most Patriotic Ghanaian: Mr. Petit A. Kpe
  • Most Promising Ghanaian(Culture & Ent.): Mr. Greyer
  • Most promising Sportsman: Mr. Amamoo
  • Most Promising Patriot: Mr. Benjamin (Odishie)

All Members of the 2007/08 soccer team, and Cultural & Entertainment department were also decorated with medals for their immense contributions to the Association.

Interviews conducted by Poundsterllin news after the programme revealed general satisfaction among all who attended the programme, most of whom heaped praises on the organisers for their good work and, above all, effective time keeping during then event.

Mr Jerry J. Asiedu, P.R.O of the Ghanaian Students Association,Ukraine(Lugansk) revealed to Poundsterllin news that "it's about time that we take a step towards restoring the real meaning of G.M.T." He explained that the real meaning of G.M.T (Greenwich Mean Time) has been changed by some people to "Ghana-Man-Time" due to our slow effort to time-keeping.  

He added that, "a new breeze of change is blowing; and a new crop of patriotic, time-conscious, dedicated, and progressive-thinking Ghanaians are emerging; and sooner than later these gentle men and women will make Ghana's position as the GATEWAY TO AFRICA inalienable."
